Board of Appeals

The Board of Appeals consists of five resident members who are appointed by the Village President and subject to confirmation by the Board of Trustees. Elected Officials are excluded from membership on the Board of Appeals.

Members serve a staggered three-year term under the terms and conditions specified by Ordinance. These consist of two 2-person three-year terms and one individual three-year term. The Village President selects one member to serve as chairperson and also appoints two alternate members.

Each year, the Village President designates a first alternate and a second alternate. The first alternate assumes full power only when a regular member is absent or abstains from voting due to a conflict of interest. The second alternate acts only if the first alternate is absent or abstains, or if multiple regular members are absent or disqualified. All operations of the Board of Appeals are governed by Village Ordinances and Wisconsin Statute §62.23(7)(e).
